Ravi Shastri Named New Head Coach For India Cricket Team by BCCI

Ravi Shastri was named the new head coach of the Indian cricket team on Tuesday pipping the likes of Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Phil Simmons, Richard Pybus and Lalchand Rajput for the post, according to reports.

This is not the first time Shastri has been at the helm of the Indian cricket team. He was the Director of the side from 2014-16 before Anil Kumble took over as the coach of the side.

Anil Kumble was the coach of the side for one whole year after which he resigned due to the differences he had with the captain, Virat Kohli.

On Kumble’s stepping down, the BCCI invited applications for the post and Shastri was subsequently convinced by Tendulkar to apply for the post.

Team India New Head Coach Appointed Ravi Shastri 

Fresh applicants were invited for the coach of the side during the ICC Champions Trophy and 10 applicants had applied for the role. Amongst the 10, 5 were shortlisted and were interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) on July 9.

Ravi Shastri returns to the side in times like these could be a welcome change, especially given his equation with Kohli and the current crop of players.

the new Team India Head Coach Ravi Shastri first appointment will be the tour to Sri Lanka, one that consists of three Tests, five ODIs and one T20I.
